Eduardo Castillo Live: Mexico City

  • Mexico City Mexico (map)

As the vibrant festivities of Zona Maco week reach their crescendo in Mexico City, Eduardo  prepares to offer an experience transcending mere musical performance. His concert, set against the vibrant backdrop of one of the world’s most dynamic cities, is not just an auditory journey but a voyage into the essence of the Overview Effect – a phenomenon often described by astronauts as a transformative realization of Earth's fragility and the interconnectedness of its inhabitants.   The concert to close Zona Maco is also an invitation to ground ourselves, shift gears and to raise awareness.

Eduardo's music, a symphony of global sounds, weaves together ethnic timbres and cinematic textures, crafting a narrative that spans continents and cultures. Each note, each melody, speaks of distant lands and close-knit communities, encapsulating the essence of a journey across the globe. This concert is more than an event; it's a pilgrimage through the world's vast cultural landscapes.

The goal is to evoke a collective cognitive shift, akin to the Overview Effect, deepening empathy and compelling a sense of shared humanity and responsibility for our planet.  Eduardo transforms the concert space into a conduit for unity.

I’ve been blessed to meet not only hugely inspiring musicians on this path, but more importantly, incredible humans, whom with their talents,  speak their truth with humility, purpose, and strength.

I can’t wait to welcome my friends on stage.

THE OVERVIEW EFFECT IMAGE GALLERY

Benjamin Grant is the founder of Overview, a project inspired by the "Overview Effect"—a term used to describe the cognitive shift in awareness reported by astronauts during spaceflight when they see the Earth from space. The project began as an Instagram account where Grant posts daily satellite images of Earth to highlight human impact on the globe, aiming to change the way we see our planet. The Overview project led to the publication of his book, also titled "Overview," which is a collection of high-definition satellite photographs that offer an eye-opening look at the Earth and human civilization from above.

Grant's work with Overview has expanded into various platforms and projects, including collaborations with environmental organizations, educational initiatives, and further publications that aim to bring a new perspective on Earth's beauty and the challenges it faces. Through his work, Grant seeks to inspire a sense of wonder, raise awareness about environmental issues, and promote a deeper understanding of our planet's complexity and vulnerability.

His background, before starting Overview, blended interests in art, technology, and environmental activism. He has effectively utilized satellite imagery to make abstract concepts about the scale of human impact more tangible to the general public. Through his projects, Grant contributes to the ongoing dialogue about sustainability, conservation, and the importance of global stewardship.

THE OVERVIEW EFFECT X LADLE

LADLE has been a driving force for my concerts in Tulum and elsewhere. This beautiful project enriching the lives of so many children in Tulum, should be considered a benchmark for how quickly our support can make a difference. I’m proud and honored to have 13 original artworks from inspiring children of LADLE, exhibited at my concert to close Art Week in Mexico City. These pieces will be auctioned, and all proceeds will go to LADLE, to further expand on this impactful project.
